Seminole State College Art Gallery Exhibit Opening at City Hall

Join us for a reception with Seminole State College Center for the Fine & Performing Arts. The City of Sanford invites you to an opening reception on Wednesday, April 16 at 4:00 pm-5:00 pm, second floor, City Hall, 300 N. Park Ave. for the “Seminole State College Gallery at City Hall.”
The Mayor’s Gallery at City Hall exhibit space on the second floor of City Hall provides additional exhibit space for local artists to display their work on a rotating basis. This initiative reflects the City of Sanford’s ongoing commitment to celebrating creativity, fostering cultural expression, and supporting the talented artists who enrich our community. By offering a prominent and accessible venue for artistic display, the City recognizes the vital role the arts play in building a vibrant, inclusive, and connected community.
This exhibit is the first to feature artists representing the College's faculty and staff. Marina Burgner, who has curated many of the Mayor's Gallery Exhibits, was a student at Seminole State College of Florida, where she won Best in Show for three years in a row. She will graduate from Stetson College in Spring 2025 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She presently serves as the College's Ceramics Laboratory Assistant, and teaches ceramics locally.  Tammy Lawless is a member of the teaching faculty at Seminole State College of Florida. She holds an MA and an MFA from the University of Texas at Tyler.  This exhibit provides opportunity for SSC students to understand their faculty and staff members as artists.
Public Art inspires dialogue, sparks imagination, and drives economic and social growth. Through the Art at City Hall program at the Mayor’s Gallery, Sanford is proud to lead the way in encouraging public engagement with the arts, providing meaningful opportunities for artists to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
The City of Sanford is grateful for its ongoing partnership with Seminole State College Center for the Fine & Performing Arts. The gallery is open during City Hall business hours. Please visit our website for more information at www.sanfordfl.gov/publicart
