AdventHealth Altamonte Springs has named Katrina Vargas Mesa as its new chief operating officer. Vargas Mesa brings more than 19 years of experience at AdventHealth, including over 12 years in nursing and operational leadership. Her career spans acute, surgical and specialty service lines, where she has consistently driven high-quality outcomes and built compassionate, high-performing teams.
Most recently, Vargas Mesa served as executive director of nursing at AdventHealth Orlando, where she oversaw seven inpatient nursing units totaling 276 beds, respiratory therapy and dialysis operations and more than 1,000 team members.
She holds a master of science degree in nursing leadership and management from Walden University, as well as bachelor and associate of science in nursing degrees from AdventHealth University.
This appointment also marks a return to Altamonte Springs for Vargas Mesa.
