Everstory Partners Leaders Named to ICCFA 40 Under 40

Megan Humphries and Geoff Richter recognized among the next generation of deathcare leaders
Altamonte Springs, Fla. (October 15, 2026) – Two Everstory Partners team members have been recognized among the next generation of leaders in the deathcare profession as recipients of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association’s 2026 40 Under 40 award.
Megan Humphries, vice president of people development, and Geoff Richter, area vice president for West Virginia, were named to the annual list, which recognizes 40 professionals under the age of 40 for their leadership, professional achievement, innovation and contributions to the profession.
Their recognition reflects Everstory’s continued focus on developing its people and creating opportunities for employees to build meaningful long-term careers in deathcare.
About Megan Humphries’ nomination
Humphries joined Everstory three years ago, focusing on employee development, strengthening leadership skills, and creating career paths across the organization.
Since then, she has led the development of Everstory University, the company’s online learning and development platform, where employees can voluntarily complete courses designed to develop leadership skills and prepare them for future opportunities.
Her team has also developed formal onboarding programs for Everstory’s sales organization, general managers, and sales managers, with additional programs in development for location-level administrative employees.
“Receiving the ICCFA 40 Under 40 Award is incredibly meaningful, and I’m grateful to be recognized alongside so many talented individuals in the deathcare profession,” Humphries said. “So much of the work I get to do at Everstory is centered around something I am genuinely passionate about: creating programs that support our team members as they grow their careers, develop as leaders, and see all that this profession has to offer.”
Finally, Humphries has helped expand Everstory employees’ exposure to the broader profession. Each year, 10 frontline employees are nominated to attend the ICCFA Experience, where they participate in educational sessions and bring new ideas and learnings back to the organization.
“To be recognized for work that I care so deeply about is truly an honor, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to continue growing and doing what I love at Everstory,” Humphries said.
About Geoff Richter’s nomination
Richter’s own career reflects that opportunity as well.
He joined Everstory in 2011 as a funeral attendant, supporting families and guests during services, and has progressed into leadership as area vice president for West Virginia. That early experience serving families continues to shape how he leads employees and oversees operations across the state.
“A career in the deathcare profession was never something I originally planned, but it has become one of the most rewarding parts of my life,” Richter said. “This industry has given me the opportunity to serve families during some of their most difficult moments, build a meaningful career, and grow into a leadership role where I can help develop and inspire others entering the profession.”
Under Richter’s leadership, revenue in his market has grown more than 31 percent since 2024, while several historically underperforming operations have returned to profitability. His team has also raised its average Google review score from 3.8 to 4.8 by continuing to focus on family care and service.
He has also placed a strong emphasis on developing people. Eight employees in his market have been promoted into roles ranging from sales and funeral home management to administration and park services leadership. The market he oversees also earned one of Everstory’s highest trust index scores as part of the company’s Great Place To Work certification.
Richter is also helping lead broader operational improvements across Everstory’s funeral homes, including more consistent service standards, a simpler planning process and a focus on advancing technology.
“Being nominated for the ICCFA 40 Under 40 Award was an honor in itself, but being selected is truly humbling,” Richter said. “To be recognized for the dedication, service, and leadership that this award represents is something I will always be grateful for.”
The recognition of Humphries and Richter comes as Everstory continues to expand its employee-development and engagement efforts and invest in long-term career opportunities across the organization. The company earned Great Place To Work Certification for the second consecutive year in 2026 after more than 90 percent of its employees participated in the workplace survey.
